Dr Chrysa Spyridakou

Η Dr Χρύσα Σπυριδάκου είναι ΩΡΛ με ειδίκευση στο αιθουσιαίο σύστημα στο Royal National Throat and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH) του University College London Hospital (UCLH) και επίτιμη Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια στο UCL. Διαχειρίζεται εξειδικευμένες τριτοβάθμιες κλινικές για παιδιά με έλλειμα ακοής και διαταραχές στο αιθουσαίο σύστημα και συνεργάζεται σε διεπιστημονικές ομάδες. Ηγείται του μοναδικού εθνικού εξειδικευμένου κέντρου του Εθνικού Συστήματος Υγείας (NHS) του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου για παιδιά με Διαταραχή Ακουστικής Επεξεργασίας (Auditory Processing Disorders, APD).

Της απονεμήθηκε διδακτορικός τίτλος στην Ιατρική από το UCL με θέμα «Χαρακτηρισμός της Διαταραχή Ακουστικής Επεξεργασίας σε ενήλικες και συσχέτιση μεταξύ των ακουστικών εξετάσεων και των συμπτωμάτων». Αυτή τη στιγμή μελετά το ψυχομετρικό προφίλ των παιδιών με Διαταραχή Ακουστικής Επεξεργασίας και τις απόψεις γονέων σχετικά με την διαταραχή αυτή.

Το ενδιαφέρον της στην εκπαίδευση της Ιατρικής είναι πολύ μεγάλο. Είναι μέλος της εκπαιδευτικής επιτροπής των μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών στο UCL. Είναι επικεφαλής εκπαιδευτικός της Audiovestibular Medicine στο UCLH. Είναι επικεφαλής της Ειδικής Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής τους προγράμματος σπουδών της Audiovestibular Medicine στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Είναι Επίτιμη Γραμματέας της International Association of Physicians in Audiology (IAPA) και πρόεδρος του εθνικών κατευθυντήριων γραμμών του British Association of Audiovestibular Physicians (BAAP) national standards and guidelines.

Chrysa Spyridakou is a consultant Audiovestibular Physician at the Royal National Throat and Ear

Hospital (RNTNEH) at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL. She runs specialist tertiary clinics for children with hearing loss and vestibular problems and she works with Multi-disciplinary teams. She leads the only national NHS specialist centre in the UK for children with Auditory Processing Disorders (APD).

She has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (Research ) from University College London on ‘Characterisation of disordered auditory processing in adults and correlation between auditory tests and symptoms’. She is currently looking at the psychometric profile of children with APD and parental views on APD.

She is very interested in medical education. She is a member of the teaching committee for the MSc students at UCL. She is the Educational Lead of Audiovestibular Medicine at UCLH. She is the Specialty Advisory Committee (SAC) Lead for the curriculum in Audiovestibular Medicine in the UK.

She is the Honorary Secretary of the International Association of Physicians in Audiology (IAPA) and the Chairman of the British Association of Audiovestibular Physicians (BAAP) national standards and guidelines.
