Antoni Christella

Η Christella Antoni είναι Λογοθεραπεύτρια που ειδικεύεται στη θεραπεία διαταραχών φώνησης, στη φωνητική φροντίδα επιβεβαίωσης φύλου (gender affirming voice care), στην αποκατάσταση φωνής για το τραγούδι και στη φωνή απαιτητικής απόδοσης. Ολοκληρώνοντας τις σπουδές της το 1995 στο UCL, έχει εργαστεί σε ποικίλα κλινικά περιβάλλοντα, συμπεριλαμβανομένων 15 ετών ως Επικεφαλής Κλινικός Φωνής στο Charing Cross (Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust) και Επικεφαλής Κλινικός για τη Διεμφυλική & Φυλοδιαφορετική Φωνή (Transgender & Gender Diverse Voice) στο West London Mental Health Trust.

Επί του παρόντος, εργάζεται ανεξάρτητα και μέρος της δουλειάς της περιλαμβάνει την εκπαίδευση και επίβλεψη των Λογοθεραπευτών σε εθνικό επίπεδο. Είχε αναπτύξει και διδάσκει μαθήματα για Λογοθεραπευτές, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των Vital Voice και Working with Transgender και Gender Diverse Voice. Σε συνεργασία με την Speech Tools Limited, ανέπτυξε την εφαρμογή φωνητικής θηλυκοποίησης: VoiceUp. Η Christella έχει μιλήσει ευρέως σε συνέδρια σε εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο. Είναι προσκεκλημένη λέκτορας σε θέματα τρανσέξουαλ και διαφορετικότητας φύλων στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα στο Πανεπιστήμιο UCL και στο Κινεζικό Πανεπιστήμιο του Χονγκ Κονγκ (CUHK).

Γνωστή για τις ικανότητες της να αναδεικνύει τις ιδιότητες της ομιλητικής και τραγουδιστικής φωνής, έλαβε μέρος στο The Voice (2008) του BBC 4, με παρουσιαστή τον καθηγητή David Howard και A Voice Like Honey, BBC 2, (2005), με παρουσιαστή τον Jan Ravens. Επιπλέον συμμετείχε: This Morning, ITV (2004-2015), He Says, She Says BBC Radio 4 (2010) με παρουσιαστή τον Stephen Fry, The Vox Project (2010) BBC Radio 4, με παρουσιάστρια την Clare Balding.

Η Christella απολαμβάνει να βοηθά τους ηθοποιούς και τους ερμηνευτές να επιτύχουν φωνές χαρακτήρων και έχει βοηθήσει μια σειρά επαγγελματιών τραγουδιστών να αποκαταστήσουν και να αναπτύξουν περαιτέρω τις φωνητικές τους ικανότητες.

Παράλληλα με το ενδιαφέρον της για την υποστήριξη σπουδαστών Λογοθεραπείας και νέων επαγγελματιών, η Christella επιθυμεί να προωθήσει την αξία της φωνητικής εργασίας και το επάγγελμα της Λογοθεραπείας στο σύνολό της. Μέρος αυτής της προσπάθειας περιλαμβάνει έρευνα, στην οποία συλλέγει δεδομένα υποκειμενικής εμπειρίας πελάτη/ασθενούς μαζί με αντιληπτικά και αντικειμενικά αποτελέσματα.

Christella Antoni is a SLT specialising in the treatment of voice disorders, gender affirming voice care, singing voice restoration and performance voice. Qualifying in 1995 from UCL, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings including 15 years as Lead Clinician for Voice at Charing Cross (Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust) and Lead Clinician for Transgender & Gender Diverse Voice (West London Mental Health Trust).

Currently now in independent practice, part of her work includes training and supervision of SLTs on a national level. She had developed and teaches courses for SLTs including Vital Voice and Working with Transgender and Gender Diverse Voice. In collaboration with Speech Tools Limited, she developed the voice feminisation app: VoiceUp. Christella has spoken widely at conferences nationally and internationally. She is a guest lecturer in transgender and gender diverse voice on the masters course at UCL and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Noted for her own ability to demonstrate spoken and sung voice qualities, she took part in BBC 4’s The Voice (2008), hosted by Professor David Howard; A Voice Like Honey, BBC 2, (2005), hosted by Jan Ravens. Christella enjoys assisting actors and performers achieve character voices and has assisted a range of professional singers to restore and further develop vocal ability. As well as her interest supporting SLT students and newly qualified SLTs, Christella is a keen to promote the value of voice work and the profession of Speech & Language Therapy as a whole. Part of this endeavor involves research gathering client/ patient subjective experience data together with perceptual and objective outcomes.
